About the artist:

A young femme-presenting person with reddish-brown braids sitting at a table in a cozy cafe, resting their chin on their hands, with plants and artwork in the background.

Ụchénnà (they/them) is a queer Igbo artist based in Toronto, Canada. Their work is varied and multifaceted, pulling on futuristic ideals, spiritual narratives and Igbo culture, with the core of it all being an exploration of self, a return to ancestry. Outside of their visual arts pursuits, they are also a storyteller, utilizing poetry and short stories as mediums. In their free time, they enjoy dibia activities and can be found gallivanting in nature.
