No longer located

This work is inspired by Chinua Achebe’s book “No longer at ease”. I explore the theme of returning home to a place that has been greatly changed and impacted by colonization. The returnee too is not the same, a foreigner to their own land and thus relying on a map created by colonizers. Here, there is a displacement, where home takes on a different face and unable to embrace the return of its child. The bottom of this installation presents a different narrative, one that urges a return that relies on ancestral wisdom. A spiritual reconnection to the land and a symbiotic relationship where, as the returnee accurately recollects, so does the land.
